You’ve decided to decorate a room and now you need to decide on Color! So how do you want your room to feel? Bright & fun, Sweet & serene, Bold & unexpected or Neutral with a pop? One of my favorite colors is blue and what I love about blue is that it is gender neutral and can work in almost any space! So I’ve gathered a few key pieces that would liven up any kids room in several shades of #blue and will give you some inspiration for your future project. With white walls, the first room uses navy blue as an accent color in only a few places but it really makes the room pop. If you want to take it a step further on your walls you can install a patterned wallpaper. Loving the pattern in the kids robot room, so modern chic! A classic piece and one you can never go wrong with is the Eames chair. Even better is that I’ve found it in blue! And lastly I’m all on board with combining blue and pink for a girls room. This nursery is simply darling. What are your thoughts?
Who’s watching the 2014 Golden Globes? All the glitz and glam left me feeling inspired to put a nursery concept board together with a whole ‘lotta red carpet worthiness. The first piece that came to mind immediately is the Uptown Crib from Nursery Works. It’s a bold statement piece which is exactly what you’d want to see on the red carpet..that is, if furniture walked the red carpet. We saw a lot of black and white gowns tonight but the inspiration for the selection of the Uptown Crib goes to the gorgeous Allison Williams wearing Alexander McQueen. A comfy chair is absolutely essential in a nursery and this red velvet swan chair designed by one of my absolute favorites, Kelly Hoppen is a dream. Red velvet, curvy lines and ball/chain fringe make it an absolute fantasy piece. Julie Bowen’s gown brings this fantasy chair straight to the red carpet. And whose dress looks chandelier-esque?? Kate Mara is a dreamy chandelier in this silver gown by J Mendel. Next up>>> Kelly Osbourne as the Trumeau Mirror by AFK Furniture! Dramatic black with decorative gold details of the mirror are also found on Kelly’s form fitting gown. I bet Jennifer Lawrence never thought her gown would inspire a side table but…it did! She is absolutely stunning in Dior and the femininity of the white Sandrine Table with black painted detail by AFK Furniture is a classic style worthy of red carpet mention. And last but not least, one of my signature design touches is adding decorative pillows inside the crib. Ankasa Home is a long-time favorite of mine and their Park Ave pillow has a look very similar to Hayden Panettiere’s Tom Ford gown. It always amazes me how fashion and interior design go hand in hand and the influence on each other is sometimes uncanny! If anyone wants to make this GG Nursery room come to life you know who to call. ;)
We had a client request a camping theme for her little boy so we thought we’d share a concept board that we put together for her. This theme can either be super “campy” with a bold outdoor feel OR it can be understated modern with a hint of a camping vibe. The latter is what we went with since our client specifically requested the nursery to not be so “theme-y”. She leans more toward a modern style so the two-tone finish and clean lines of the Dutailier Crib and dresser were perfect for her. The color palette for this room is warm neutrals, espresso finish, with orange, green and white accents. Feelin like camping right?? The Nursery Works Empire glider is one of our favorites and works well for a boys room since it looks a little more masculine. Adding light fixtures in any space always adds a bit of interest and we love this exposed bulb from Lightopia. It’s great in a boys room and can remain in his room as he ages because it doesn’t have an ounce of juvenile feel to it! Our client absolutely loved this green Nursery Works tree bookcase and we do too! Check back as we post more concept boards to spark your imagination. Let us know what you think!
